St Ives Cornwall Allotments - a site in a scenic rural location on the edge of the Penwith Hills on the coast of North Cornwall.
St Ives Cornwall Allotments are at Trowan - west of the town and nestling between the Penwith Hills and the sea. There are around 50 plots - some divided into half plots
There are no facilities apart from a water supply - from a borehole drilled into an aquifer runnng underground down from the hills.
One benefit of the site is the beautiful location with lovely views. The soil is generally in good condition and loamy. The mild Cornish weather also aids growing - though the prevailing westerly winds can be a problem.
Many plots are fenced - to provide a windbreak - and some are bordered with willow planting to provide further shelter.
